​​Matuschka's archives are located in New Jersey and New York City.​​​ Among the archive’s holdings is a collection of vintage videos, music tapes,  floppy discs, cds, dvds, computers, rare books, news letters, posters, catalogues, art invitations, sign-up sheets, stickers, t-shirts, memorabilia, personal effects  and other relevant paraphenelia.

The estate includes four oversized vintage oak  flat files  that contain 20 drawers filled with works on paper, matted  exhibition prints and digital reproductions of select photographic images.

At the New Jersey location there are  eight Museum styled Solander portfolio cases  containing matted exhibition prints. These hard cases measure 20 x 24" and 32 x 42". Additionally there are 163 archival boxes that  range in sizes 20 x 24",  17 x 22" and in some cases smaller.

ARCHIVAL BOXES (163), NEW JERSEY

The 163 multi sized archival boxes contain not only the artists photographic prints, but also the negatives, international publications, awards and other artifacts that are part of the collection.

MATUSCHKA'S OFFICE, NYC

Since 1974, Matuschka's  studio has been located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and is an ideal location for viewing select photographic works in person.

BINDERS (108), NYC

There are 108 blue binders stored in NYC  which contain press, correspondence, newletters, diaries, professional letters, slides, negatives, art invitations, catalogues,  journals, drawings,  and unique documentation dating back to 1969. 

SELECT ARTIFACTS 1969-2025

Matuschka’s penchant for documenting her life is also captured and experienced through the preservation of her personal effects. Artifacts include picture ID’s, CD’s, invoices, wardrobe, activistic merchandise, publishing agreements and other rare items that cannot be found anywhere else. Objects and art given to her by other famous photographers and artists are also included in the collection. Below is a small sampling of the different types of artifacts included.

CASTS 1987-1995

The body casts created for "The Ruins" and "Beauty Out of Damage" series remain intact as sculptural artifacts contained in the estate.

Contact sheets and Polaroids from Matuschka’s photographic sessions have been preserved with archival care, offering a rare and unfiltered view into her selection process and visual intention. More than just working tools, they stand as historical documents that capture the process and selection behind Matuschka’s most iconic works.
